Aligning and Refining your Practice, Part 1:
Creating greater steadiness and ease in your standing
poses, inversions, and backbends
This practice will
help you create greater steadiness and ease in your practice by emphasizing
precision and technique. You will practice a strong, well-rounded sequence of
standing poses, inversions and backbends. In addition to gaining a deeper
understanding of technique in these postures, you will learn more about the
anatomy involved and practice partner poses designed to make you more effective
at working with your students.
2:00pm-4:30 pm
Moving Into Difficulty
When
you’re in the midst of a life challenge—big or small—do you tense up? Get
aggressive? Turn away in fear? One of
the greatest benefits of yoga practice is that it trains you to stay calm in
the eye of any storm. In this workshop you’ll learn to work hard and approach
poses that challenge you from a relaxed state. You’ll move to your edge—and
beyond— with greater poise, awareness, and attention to detail. In so doing,
you will maximize your energy, creating greater comfort in your backbends,
depth in your arm-balances, and stability in your core.

10 am-12:30 pm
Aligning and Refining your Practice, Part 2:
Creating greater comfort and contentment with forward
bends, twists, sidebends and inversions
This practice will
focus on developing greater depth and comfort in forward bends, twists,
sidebends, and inversions. You will learn deep layers of technique in these
poses that will help you and your students get the most from your practice. You
will also explore how these poses quiet the mind, soothe nerves, and prepare you
for meditation. In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of technique in
these postures, you will learn more about the anatomy involved and practice
partner poses designed to make you more effective at working with your
students.
2:00 pm-4:30 pm
Strengthen Your Shoulders, Open Your
Hips
Refining
the movements of your hips and shoulders will help cultivate greater strength,
flexibility, and depth in your practice. Even more, stabilizing and aligning
these regions will help balance your body and allow your breath to move with
freedom and ease. By combining intelligent sequencing, instructive detail, and
a wide-ranging asana practice, this session will deepen your practice and allow
you to break through habitual patterns.
Early registration ends September 30th. Prices will increase on October 1st for both IYA members and non members. Please specify which class you would like to attend. If you are attending 2 classes in the same day, add to your Cart twice and choose each class. Thank you!
